ARISE is a free summer research program in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines. Selected students will conduct authentic research while being mentored by a graduate student and/or faculty member in one of 30 active labs on the campus of NYU's School of Engineering or its College of Arts and Science, investigating a range of scientific, interdisciplinary questions in engineering, computer/data science and life sciences. In addition, ARISE students are taught public speaking skills, complete a presentation on their work, and learn about the history and ethics of science and research. Some of the previous 229 ARISE graduates have continued their research into the following school year, co-authored scientific papers, attended professional conferences, or entered science competitions based on their work. All have gained critical new academic and professional skills.
